Zero Gravity Released New Yamaha R1 Windscreens

Yamaha R1 seems to be in the center of attention for most motorcycle parts manufacturers. After Yoshimura recently released new aftermarket slip-on exhausts, it is now Zero Gravity’s turn to announce its new line of 2009 Yamaha YZF R1 windscreens.

The new line includes the SR Series' stock replacement, which is close to the OEM windscreens’ size and shape. The Double Bubble follows Yamaha R1’s race look lines and in the same time provides additional aerodynamics to the bike’s features.

The windscreen appears as a "bubble within a bubble" which is exactly how this windscreen is fabricated. It is factory pre-drilled (except certain racing applications), suitable for both street and track use, and made from 3mm Acrylic sheet. As well as the other Zero Gravity windscreens, Double Bubble features hand polished visible edges and distortion free optical clarity.

The new windscreens line is available in a wide color range, protected with a limited factory warranty and with a MSRP of $79,95 for the SR Series, $89,95 for the Double Bubble and $89,95 for the Sport Touring owners.

The Double Bubble is not, however, the only option available for R1 riders. Customers can also choose the "Race Tall" screen, similar in shape to the OEM screen but 1.5" taller than stock , which provides additional wind protection for street or track applications.

The first version of the Double Bubble appeared on Team ZG's 1995 Yamaha TZ250's ridden by Nick Ienatsch. Many of today's top riders use Zero Gravity to compete, from 6 time AMA Superbike champ Mat Mladin, to 2 time AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies & former Supersport champion Tommy Hayden on Team Yoshimura Suzuki, to Eric & Ben Bostrom, Jaimie Hacking & Jason DiSalvo.

Rossi woos Paris ahead of Le Mans

It wasn’t quite a romantic stroll, by the Seine but there was definitely something memorable about MotoGP World Champion, Fiat Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi’s first blast past the Eiffel tower and Champs-Élysées with an YZF-R1. The Italian was taking in the tourist hot-spots of Paris ahead of pushing for his 99th career victory this weekend at Le Mans.

Rossi was the draw for hundreds of MotoGP fans and curious onlookers as the 30 year old carefully steered a special edition Monster Energy- livered R1 by the Arc de Triomphe, through nearby streets to a press conference and then – despite the rain – managed a burn-out in front of the French capital’s famous sky-line form.

“It was quite slippery out there with the rain, but I managed to do a little burn-out by the Eiffel Tower,” said Rossi who leads the current MotoGP standings by 11 points on his YZR-M1 and won the Grand Prix of Spain at Jerez two weeks ago he said. “It’s my first time to the Eiffel Tower so I was pleased to do that, we all had some fun out there. I’m looking forward to this weekend at Le Mans now.”

Success at the short and twisty circuit of Le Mans on Sunday could set-up a momentous weekend a fortnight later with the chance to reach 100 triumphs in front of his tifosi at Mugello.

Yamaha MT-01 SP Limited Edition

he 2009 MT-01 SP gets a few extra bits and pieces to spice things up a bit. The engine is still the same 1,670cc v-twin, which produces 90 horsepower at 4,750rpm and 150Nm of torque at 3,750 revs. Wet weight is 265 kilos.

The MT-01 SP gets a 43mm USD Öhlins fork and adjustable Öhlins rear shock. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels, which now wear 120/70 (front) and 190/50 (rear) Pirelli Diablo Rosso rubber. According to Yamaha, all these changes provide ‘a more intense experience of ‘Kodo,’ a Japanese expression for soul beat, pulsation or the external expression of latent power.

Yamaha FJR1300AE 2009

Yamaha’s electronically controlled clutch-less shifting makes this model the definition of smooth. The 2009 Yamaha FJR1300AE has a reputation as one of the world’s great sport touring motorcycles. The “AE” designation puts an interesting spin on an incredible bike. The YCC-S system with its auto clutch and convenient hand operated electric shifting has revolutionized Sport Touring.

Key Features:

For 2009, the FRJ1300AE receives new mapping for YCC-S which aids with improved response while downshifting from neutral.
Yamaha exclusive electric-shift five-speed transmission eliminates the clutch lever entirely—now you can click off super-smooth shifts using either the left bar-mounted paddles or the foot-operated gearshift lever.
A light-and-rigid aluminum frame, sportbike running gear and standard hard sidebags go beautifully together.
Pushbutton adjustable windscreen and a thick comfy seat for two are perfect for comfortable, long-distance riding.
The world's first supersport touring bike boasts standard ABS and adjustable ergonomics that widen the gap between it and common sport tourers to a gaping chasm.
Advanced air management system and adjustable bodywork keep the FJR rider looking and feeling cool.
Engine:

Compact, lightweight 1298cc, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine delivers power and torque for an unequaled spread of muscle over a wide rpm range.
Another Yamaha first: a computer operated clutch and electronic shift actuators eliminate the need to operate the clutch. Yamaha Chip Control Shifting snaps off clean up- and downshifts every time using either the left bar-mounted paddles or the low-effort foot shifter.
Engine is a fully stressed chassis member, allowing for a lightweight frame design and balance rigidity for optimal handling.
Curved radiator with custom ducting and twin-ring cooling fans keep engine and cockpit cool.
Slant-block engine design uses stacked, tri-axis gearbox shafts that help minimize powerplant size while optimizing chassis geometry for balanced weight distribution and great handling.
Lightweight forged pistons with carburized connecting rods provide superb strength and reduced reciprocating mass for outstanding high-rpm durability.
Patented electroplated ceramic composite cylinder bores ensure greater heat dissipation and thus reduced frictional power loss.
Advanced fuel injection system is ideal for long-distance supersport-touring, delivering crisp, seamless throttle response in a variety of altitude/weather conditions.
Gearshift shaft features a needle-roller bearing to reduce friction for silky-smooth shifting.
Shaft final drive system is super-durable and virtually maintenance-free.
Low-vibration crankshaft with two gear-driven secondary counterbalancers help deliver a glass-smooth ride with reduced rider/passenger fatigue.
Constant-mesh 5-speed transmission utilizes wide ratios to deliver relaxed long-distance touring performance combined with seamless power and acceleration.
Four-into-one-into-two stainless-steel exhaust optimizes engine performance across the powerband.
Wet-sump oil system uses an easy-access cartridge-type oil filter mounted on the engine's left side.
Chassis/Suspension:

Sharp-looking bodywork and air-management system keep the bike and rider cooler; a central vent beneath the instrument panel cools the rider and reduces negative pressure, and fairing side panels with 1.2-inch adjustability let the rider direct airflow.
Adjustable ergonomics: the seat can be adjusted by nearly an inch, and handlebar pullback angle is three-position adjustable over a half-inch range.
Long swingarm provides even better ride and handling characteristics, and rear spring preload adjustment is a snap.
Standard equipment Unified Braking System w/ABS: The front brake lever activates six of the eight front braking pistons; the rear brake pedal activates two rear pistons and the other two front pistons—for balanced anti-lock braking in all conditions.
Ergonomically shaped, large-capacity, 6.6-gallon fuel tank offers excellent comfort and range and is constructed of steel allowing for the use of magnetic tankbags.
Rear frame with integrated grab handle makes lifting the bike onto the centerstand a snap.
An additional catalyst and a heated oxygen sensor are located in the exhaust for increased control range and low emissions.
Additional Features:

Slim profile even with bags in place for excellent in-town maneuverability.
Subframe-fitted quick-release luggage mounts provide easy use of the standard accessory hard sidecases, which are conveniently matched to the ignition key.
Long dual seat features two-part construction using different foam densities for the front and rear sections, ensuring plush comfort for both rider and passenger.
Big windscreen adjusts over a wide range for improved wind protection with little negative pressure.
Instrument panel contains an electronic analog speedometer and tachometer; LCD digital odometer, dual tripmeters, gear position indicator, fuel, coolant and air temperature gauges, and clock; lights for neutral, high beam, turn signals, low oil and engine warnings—as well as real-time mileage, average mileage and air temperature.
Sleek, cat-eye dual 12V 60/55-watt multi-reflector headlights throws an extremely broad beam for superb visibility and feature easy-access adjustment knobs; mirrors are easy to adjust and retract horizontally.
Powerful dual-bulb taillight features integrated turn signals for a slick, one-piece look that's aerodynamic and conspicuous.
Integrated front turn signals with clear lenses add to the FJR1300AE's cutting-edge aerodynamic bodywork.
Glove box contains a 12V outlet for phones, GPS units, electric vests, etc.
Standard toolkit located in convenient storage compartment under passenger seat.

Yamaha FZ6R 2009

The 2009 Yamaha FZ6R is a fully-faired version of the naked FZ6, with a number of mechanical and ergonomic tweaks With an adjustable, low narrow seat the new Yamaha FZ6R is a really good choice as a confidence building, entry level machine for a new rider. The sports bike styling, performance and great handling will also appeal to the more experienced rider who wants a bit more fun on twisty roads. The new engine, based on the R6 motor, delivers power smoothly, accelerates briskly and has torque in reserve for the times you need more. The very smooth performance and rigidity balance when cornering is provided by a new high-tensile steel frame and incorperating the engine as part of the chassis.

While the sportier FZ6 is still available for the pure more experienced riders with a starting MSRP just $300 higher, the FZ6R dips below the $7000 mark and comes with a new steel chassis and a completely revised and retuned 600cc inline 4-cylinder DOHC powerplant that’s is sure to please many newcomers.

New riders can expect to find an all-new steel frame and swingarm with comfortable and adjustable rider positioning to provide a bike that you won’t soon outgrow. The 30.9-inch saddle seat height (FZ6 is 31.3) can be raised 20mm from the stock position, while the bars can also move 20mm forward by rotating the bar mount columns with the included tool kit. Compared to the FZ6 model, the handlebar is 12mm rearward and 12mm lower. The seat position is 4mm forward and 2mm lower than the FZ6.

The all-black FZ6R Raven model has an MSRP of just $6,990 while the Team Yamaha Blue/White, Cadmium Yellow and Pearl White paint and graphic schemes run slightly higher at $7,090. Each color has a different graphics package – two are traditional Yamaha and two are more in line with the flashy and cool R6 designs.

Features:
The 600cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke in-line 4-cylinder engine, from an earlier generation R6, has a newly designed cylinder head, crankcase, intake and exhaust system, as well and the clutch and shifter which results in an engine with an entirely new character even though the bore and stroke dimensions and compression ratio are the same as the previous FZ6. Maximum output is achieved at 10,000 rpm and maximum torque at 9000 rpm. Lightweight aluminium pistons reduce vibration and result in a very smooth running
engine.
A 32-bit ECU controls the four-hole, two-direction, high-dynamic-range type fuel injectors for superior injection control.
A 4-2-1 provides a comfortably quiet but throaty exhaust note, while a 3-way catalytic converter reduces exhaust emissionsThe rider’s seat features an innovative height adjustment mechanism that can raise the seat 20mm for taller riders. It sounds like a small change but could make all the difference on an all day ride.
Hydraulic brakes, both front and rear, two 298mm discs at the front and a 254 mm at the rear, with semi metallic pads offer superior braking ability.Cast aluminium wheels with radial tyres, 120/70R 17-inch front and 160/16R 17-inch rear, contribute to the bikes agile handling
A new instrument panel includes a digital di
splay speedometer, analog tachometer, odometer/tripmeter, fuel gauge, and water coolant gauge.
The bodywork has an exterior coating for a superior shine.
