Ducati to Unveil Limited Edition Hayden 848 at Laguna Seca

Ducati North America is proud to announce the newest addition to its model range, the 848 Nicky Hayden Special Edition. The special edition 848 will be unveiled tomorrow at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

In honor of Fourth of July, Ducati is celebrating American World Champion Nicky Hayden with a special USA themed 848. This US -exclusive model will be unveiled at 4pm Saturday July 4 on Ducati Island at the USGP with Nicky Hayden and Ducati CEO Gabriele Del Torchio. It will be on display the remainder of the weekend for fans to view, and available at Ducati dealers July 7th in limited numbers.

The Nicky Hayden Edition is the first of the 2010 model year 848's to arrive in the United States. The distinctive features and 2010 model upgrades on this motorcycle include the American inspired livery, LED dash illumination for superior night visibility, a 30mm mirror extension kit for enhanced vision and aluminum cam belt tensioner pulleys for improved acceleration.

Boasting 134hp at 10,000 rpm, the 848 Nicky Hayden Edition is unmatched in the middleweight class for torque and power values.

The 2010 Ducati 848 Nicky Hayden Edition is priced at $14,495 and available at authorized Ducati dealerships this coming week.

Ducati North America is excited to announce the first annual "Ducs Fly South" track day

Ducati North America is excited to announce the first annual "Ducs Fly South" track day, which will be held July 13th at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Ducs Fly South is the Northeastern United States major Ducati event for the summer. The event will be a great opportunity to experience the thrill of the racetrack together with Ducati and the Penguin School; the nation's oldest motorcycle roadracing school. The Penguin School will have a special staff lined up for this event to provide both top level instruction and premium entertainment. The event is open to street riders of all levels and available to riders on any make of motorcycle.

Highlights of the event include:­

Ducati Hypermotard Truck – This tractor trailer houses Ducati Hypermotards on which instruction and demo rides will be provided all day long. The truck will be the gathering place for product giveaways, a 'Best Bike' contest, test rides, and a suspension seminar. Cold Red Bull will be available throughout the day to keep riders energized.

Larry Pegram – The factory Ducati AMA Superbike rider will be on hand to celebrate his recent victory at Road America. Larry will be available for autographs and a special question and answer session about his Ducati 1098 R Superbikes.

Ferrari-Ducati Showdown – Boasting a showroom filled with pre-owned Italian sports cars such as Ferraris, Maseratis and Lamborghinis; Universal Autosports is host to a staff highly experienced with exotic road and race cars. Universal Autosports is bringing three Ferrari Challenge cars that will be running on the track, which will compete against each other for the fastest lap. Immediately following the hot lap competition, professional Ducati instructors and racers will mirror this contest on Ducatis. The Challenge car driver and Ducati rider with the fastest laps will go head to head in a winner-takes-all race.

Track Experience:

This unique event combines the safe, comfortable environment of a track day with the opportunity for individual instruction for riders at every level. Two of the three riding groups will have passing restrictions, making for a comfortable place to ride for all participants.

There will be ample opportunity for instruction, and a rider may participate in as many of the classes as they like. Classes will be offered between the riding sessions covering topics like line selection, corner strategy, braking techniques, corner speed analysis, body position, bike setup and more.

The event will also offer individual instruction for riders; which combined with great food, a bike show, and a track photographer shooting all day makes for an event to remember.

If you are a lucky owner of a Ducati Desmosedici you will be delighted to find out that one specially dedicated track day is waiting for you. No noise or speed limits.

So go and prepare your ride for the Derbyshire circuit in Donington Park, the place to host world’s first Desmosedici track day on June 30. Track places will be limited to 75 and participants will be allowed to ride the full Moto GP circuit, which is not usually opened for track days.

The event will feature a parade lap of all Desmosedici owners, and guest appearances of test rider Vittoriano Guareschi and designer Alan Jenkins. There will also be a Ducati charity auction for Riders for Health, as well as technical seminars and a "behind the scenes" tour of Donington Park.

Auction prizes include: 2 paddock passes and lunch with Randy Mamola in Ducati Corse hospitality at the British Moto GP; a two-seater ride at British MotoGP with two paddock passes and a lunch at Ducati Corse Hospitality; an Xbox360 SBK 2008 game signed by Michel Fabrizio and Troy Bayliss; three posters signed by Casey Stoner.

There are two ticket costs for the day, one for those enrolling for the track places (£450 including VAT) and one for those who are not wishing to ride on track (£100 including VAT). Whatever your option is, you will still enjoy hospitality in one of Goddard suites including breakfast rolls on arrival, and a hot lunch as well as a prime view of the track.

The event’s organizers thought of everything, including your wish of preserving memories from the day, so they booked up a professional photographer to capture the moment. Don’t worry, nothing will ruin your day, as Bridgestone tires UK will take care of the tire service, while Ducati UK dealers are in charge of the technical and suspension tuning support.

Ducati Superbike 1098 R Bayliss LE (2009)

Troy Bayliss is a Ducati legend. In celebration of his victory in the 2008 World Superbike Championship aboard the 1098 R, and the end of a career that proudly claims three World Championships aboard three generations of Ducati Superbike, the factory have built a 1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition.

Enjoying exactly the same high specification as the standard 'R' model, the 1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition has a special colour scheme designed by Aldo Drudi and approved by Troy Bayliss himself. The livery, which was used during Troy's final race at Portimao in Portugal, incorporates the key colours of his success. Sporting the famous number '21' on the pearl white nose and side-fairing number plates, the red and white paint scheme uses the dark blue background of the Australian national flag to blend beautifully along the side of the bodywork and into the unpainted carbon fibre stripe along the seat unit. This attention to fine detail is also evident in features like the carbon lower-fairing finished in red, except for aerodynamic recess for the side-stand, which remains natural carbon fibre. A subtle '1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition' graphic on the tail fairing leaves no doubt as to what this magnificent bike is.

The striking design contrasts perfectly against the 5-spoke wheels finished in matte black and additional special features like the carbon fibre heat shield on the exhaust.

The 1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition will be limited to only 500 units and comes with a numbered plaque on the top fork clamp, indicating exactly where in the limited edition the motorcycle was built. Ducati's new 1098 Streetfighter is a naked, traction control-equipped version of their fully-faired superbike, and pretty much makes their Monster lineup sound like a misnomer. Boasting a slightly less powerful 1098 engine that produces 155 horsepower and 85 lb-ft of torque (5 less hp and lb-ft than the fully-faired 1098), this exposed exotic wears its insides on the outside with enough sharp edges and complicated lines to inspire plenty of healthy debate about its beauty... or, lack thereof. Incidentally, last year's 1098 gets uprated to an 1198 for 2009.
